False Klamath Cove
On the drive up to Oregon, a few miles before you hit Crescent City, you descend out of the trees for just a moment to touch the coast at False Klamath Cove before ascending the winding road back into the forest. It was a windy day and I'd long given up on encountering any rideable waves before sunset. But, though I had no right to hope for such a place, the cove was sheltered from the wind and seemed surfable, if suspiciously rocky.
The cove rewarded me for paddling out with some clean shoulder to head high waves. Aside from dodging an errant floating log as I headed out, I had no incidents with submerged rocks or sea life and enjoyed a glorious surf as the sun set among the nearby sea stacks.
Best surf of the summer.

Great photo. Not that I'm biased or anything but the West Coast is the best coast on the planet.
